Castle Cary Library young writers’ competition 2023 – extended deadline

The Friends of Castle Cary Community Library are pleased to announce that we’re running a new short story writing competition, for writers aged 11-18 attending any secondary school in Somerset!

There are cash prizes of £50 for the winners in each age category (year 7-9, 10-11 and 12-13), plus a runner-up prize of £30 in each category too.

The competition will be judged by renowned local writer and creative writing lecturer, Emma Craigie. Prizes will be awarded in a special ceremony to take place on Saturday 24th February at 3pm at Castle Cary Methodist Church.

The extended deadline to submit your story is now 15th January 2024. We’re so looking forward to reading your work – why not have a go and send us something? Teachers and writing group leaders are welcome to submit on behalf of their students (with permission, of course).

All the details, including eligibility criteria, are available on the submission form.
